Representative Fresolo and Senator Augustus To Hold Press Conference on Funding for Visitor’s Center

Worcester, MA – Representative John P. Fresolo and Senator Edward M. Augustus, Jr. will be holding a press conference at the historic Washburn-Moen building on Tuesday, August 22, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. to announce the $1.6 million in funding secured for the Gateway Visitor’s Center.  The Washburn-Moen building, located at 744 Millbury Street, is the site of the future Visitor’s Center.  Also attending the press conference will be Chairman Robert DeLeo, Chairman of House Ways & Means, as well as members of the Worcester Delegation and City officials. 

Rep. Fresolo said, “I am extremely proud to have taken part in securing $1.6 million in funding for the Gateway Visitor’s Center.  The people of Worcester, and in particular the residents of Quinsigamond Village, have patiently waited for this project, which promises to not only spur economic development, but also in conjunction with the Route 146 project, create a front door to the South Side of Worcester.”

Senator Augustus added, “I am thrilled to have helped secure these funds, which will enhance the continued development of Quinsigamond Village and ensure that the neighborhood becomes a true destination for visitors and residents alike.”

Following the press conference, Chairman DeLeo will be led on a guided tour of Rep. Fresolo’s district.
