Representative John P. Fresolo Testifies Before Committee on

House Bill 5093

Today Rep. John P. Fresolo (D-Worcester) testified in front of the Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight in regard to his bill, House Bill 5093, "An Act Relative to Designating a Certain Area of Worcester a Place of Peace Healing Garden." The bill would construct a Place of Peace Healing Garden in the City of Worcester. The garden will be a place where those affected by cancer can go to find a sense of healing as the garden provides visual solace, a connection to nature, and outer peace.

"After speaking with many cancer survivors and sufferers in and around the Worcester Area, I have come to believe that more than ever we in State Government must do everything we can to aid in putting those struggling with cancer at ease," said Fresolo. "It is important that we provide a place that is accessible to all, where those struggling with cancer are able to reflect and hopefully alleviate the mental and physical pain of cancer."

The proposed garden would be constructed on state-owned land in Worcester on the banks of the Blackstone River less than one mile from the Route 146/ Route 90 Massachusetts Turnpike interchange. Rep. Fresolo has spoken with officials at University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Care and St. Vincent Hospital and received positive response in possible financial aid for the project.
